THE STONE TEETH Veiled Realms Art Challenge For my submission I aim to create a piece inspired by art work by Max Bedulenko, more so his piece The Stone Teeth. Now I could create a piece that is literally in interpretation of his title and create something that actually looks like Teeth, instead I aim to recreate Max’s piece as a 3D environment. I am drawing from inspiration of ancient buildings from India. As soon as I looked at Max’s artwork I thought of temples and sites from such places as India and Asia and so this is where my main inspiration in terms of research is coming from. I have gathered a series of reference images mainly of India temples and Mosques. But I am also looking at Buddhist temples. When it comes to any art work that I create always do my own research as well as use concept art. My main Concept piece for this will by the art work from Max’s collection. The main theme for my piece is going to by Scifi in nature. I am thinking of a Scifi style environment with ruined temples in the background and a space ship flying into the shot. Think Star Wars in terms of the space ship, this is where my scifi inspiration is coming from for this environment being a star wars nerd. I am debating if I want to create this environment as an actual Star Wars style environment and have like jedi or some sort of characters running through the actual ruins, I am unsure at this time if the viewer will actually see this in the final shot. In terms of creating the piece I am going to create all 3D assets in Blender as Modular assets that way I can arrange my buildings with ease. I am not creating these as game assets but rather high poly assets that could be used as a cinematic or animation. All detail will be modeled in either by hand or using displacement and sculpting. I will be using high resolution textures from Megascans as well as creating my own textures using Substance painter. For my Environment I am going to use Unreal 5.5 for creating the environment. I use Unreal on a regular basis for all my environments. This will provide a good base for my main landscape, as well as Gaea for any background landscape and I will use Unreals Procedural Content Generation to scatter assets. I am going to use a low light HDRI overcast sky for my main sky in the environment that way I can get a lot of real world lighting into my scene, and use a directional light to pick up fine details on the ruins. As I am just greyboxing my environment at this time I have yet to settle on my final camera, however for a shot like this I do like to use a larger lens such as a 150-200mm lens so I can get more blur and motion blur in my shot and make it feel more real and cinematic. For my Final output I am going to render at 4K #leartesstudios #learteschallenge
