Veiled Realms Art Challenge: Ghent - From paintings to reality. banner

Hello everyone, This will be my entry for the #learteschallenge. I decided to go with Max Bedulenko's Ghent concept. The idea is tu capture the armosphere that he carefully created in a stylized style, using the painted normals workflow, trying to make it look like the scene is a painting, a painting that you can walk in. I'll be doing my best to work with Blender (my arch nemesis), Painter/Designer, Zbrush, Photoshop, Xnormal, UE5, Dash (to help with asset placement, management and things like cables, atmosphere and so on) and I'm probably missing something. Currently working on a generator to help me minimize actual normal painting to hero assets and such.

These are my main sources of inspiration. I will be working with modules, different textures, vertex painting, decals and more to flush out the world. I'll have to improvise some walking areas so the world feels more alive. I'd also like to add some mechanical birds and such to make it feel alive.

Atmosphere will be key in my entry. My spin on the story will be, that this is a distant future where the world is inhabited by robots, humans died a long time ago. Robots are fascinated by the way we used to live (something akin to Stray), so the world needs to feel toxic, but at the same time, charming and inviting. #learteschallenge #leartesstudio
